iPad and Galaxy Tab too expensive for Christmas
Both the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab are too expensive for Christmas, says new research conducted by Broadband Genie
The iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, by price association, are said to be too expensive for Christmas gifts, according to new research by Broadband Genie.
The Cambridge-based online comparison site found that most people wouldn’t dream of paying £400 pounds for an iPad.
This doesn’t bode well for the Samsung Galaxy Tab either, though, as it is around the same price as Apple’s massively popular tablet device.
Here’s what the survey found:
“In a poll of 1,300 visitors to the Broadband Genie site, 60% said the iPad was definitely not worth £400 or more. A further 200 said it wasn’t really worth the price tag, putting the total thinking it was poor value up to 80%,” said Cambridge News.
Broadband Genie’s editor, Chris Marling, added:
“With e-readers, smartphones, netbooks and even laptops available for a fraction of that price, it’s a tough ask for people to see the value in a tablet costing up to £700. And with cheaper tablet models already appearing, some running on the popular Android OS, its easy to see why.
Not everyone shares this assertion though. For instance, Cambridge News has Robert Hallam, managing director of John Lewis in Cambridge, saying that he reckons the iPad will be the biggest selling thing this Christmas.
Either way, we don’t think Mr. Jobs will be losing any sleep over diminishing iPad sales any time soon…
